You probably know me as the founder of Sourcingbro but may not know any other thing about me. The purpose of this page is to give you a glimpse into my world so that you can know more about me.
I’m Jack (Chinese name- Zhou Chao). I was born in the 90s into a poor family in the Guizhou province, Southwestern part of China. I had a lonely childhood experience because I’m the only child in my family.
In the summer of 2012, while I was about to graduate, I knew I had to decide the next step that I need to take. I remembered the only thing I wanted then was to get out of school and head to the big cities. At that time, I was considering Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
I had being to Beijing and Shanghai before (even though I didn’t explore the cities). Thus, I had Shenzhen and Guangzhou left. I chose Shenzhen for a very childish and funny reason- I can easily go to Hong Kong to watch movies that were not shown in the mainland theatre.
I moved into Shenzhen on 30th July, 2012 at 5:30 am. I still remember vividly. The image below shows my train ticket from Nanchang to Shenzhen.
My accommodation was in Shenzhen OCT LOFT. It is an impressive area with a peaceful, quiet and comfortable atmosphere. The accommodation made me fall in love with Shenzhen. I shared the accommodation with my roommates Max, Brian and my neighbor Stefan.
Brian is an American; Stefan is a British while Max is an Australian. My interaction with them made me find my passion which is “cross-culture” and that propelled me to start my career as an International Trade Specialist.
I remember the day Max asked me to accompany him to the Huaqiang North (also known as “The Silicon Valley of hardware”).
I was amazed by the blooming market in the area. Tons of people were trooping in and out. On getting to Huaqiang North and experiencing the kind of trade going on there, the idea of bridging the gap between the place and people like Max struck me.
My experience as a Buyer Agent has enabled me to learn about the challenges that buyers (most especially importers) often encounter challenges such as delay in shipment, quality issues, huge Minimum Order Quantity and after-sale problems amongst others.
These challenges inspired me to start Sourcingbro as a solution. I often pay more attention to fixing people’s problems than the revenues that I get. Putting smiles on people’s faces is my driving force and sharing my clients’ experience, success and culture keeps me passionate about my business.
